The key to Brown’s “perfect” rice cooking method is using an electric kettle and saucepan. First, pour water into a kettle, add butter to a medium saucepan and set on high. Then gently shake the pan until the butter stops bubbling and it starts to brown. At this point you want to turn on the kettle. While waiting for the kettle to heat up, add the rice and salt to the hot, buttered saucepan. You will be stirring the rice constantly until the kettle shuts off or the rice starts to brown. Carefully pour the heated water into the pan, stir the rice and cover. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 20 minutes. When done, remove the pan, let stand five minutes, and uncover. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
