Man arrested with 10 driver’s license disqualifications: Garden City Police – Low Calorie Diets Tips

GARDEN CITY, NY – The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ended June 7th.

June 1st

  • A tractor trailer struck the Cherry Valley overpass, shearing off the trailer’s roof. The driver was charged with disobeying bridge clearance signs.
  • A vehicle reportedly left the scene after hitting and damaging a railroad gate at the Franklin Avenue intersection.
  • A driver stopped on Harrison Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.
  • A driver at Greenridge Circle has been charged with illegally operating and overtaking a stop sign.
  • A 19-year-old woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that occurred on the Adelphi campus on May 26.

  • A mountain bike was reported to have been stolen from the outbuildings of a residence on Russell Road.
  • A driver on Clinton Road was accused of driving with a suspended license and using a mobile phone while driving.
  • A driver on Clinton Road has been charged with driving with a suspended license, suspended registration and speeding.
  • A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and speeding in a school area.
  • Garden City detectives arrested a youth April 29 for stealing credit cards from a high school locker. He was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and identity theft.

3rd of June

  • A Commercial Avenue business reported that someone had picked a gate lock and dumped a large amount of construction debris in the business’s side yard.
  • The fire brigade and police responded to a fire alarm in a residential building and determined that construction work in the house was the cause.
  • A driver on Cherry Valley Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic sign.
  • Firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at a restaurant; Firefighters determined the cause was smoke.
  • Firefighters and police reported a fire alarm to Adelphi University and discovered smoke was being used during a theatrical performance.

June 4th

  • A real estate agent showing a house at Andover Court told police he saw an unauthorized person inside the house. Officers arrived at the scene and upon investigating found a youth in the home and arrested him. A second youth fled the scene on foot. He was arrested by officers after a short chase. Both youths were charged with burglary.
  • A pair of sunglasses has been reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the Cherry Valley Country Club.
  • Firefighters put out several bushfires along the railroad tracks near the Garden City Country Club.
  • A driver on 7th Street was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and registration.

June 5th

  • Officials assisted firefighters who put out a dumpster fire on 7th Street.
  • Police were investigating a report of an individual receiving constant harassing social media messages.
  • A driver on Washington Avenue has been charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.
  • A driver on Clinton Road has been charged with speeding and passing a red light on Chestnut Street.
  • A 36-year-old driver was arrested on Clinton Road for driving on a DWI-related license, a suspended license and an unregistered operation.

6th of June

  • A witness saw a tractor trailer leave the scene after hitting and damaging a vehicle parked on Old Broadway.
  • A driver on Clinton Road and Rainbow Place has been charged with speeding, unsafe turning, unsafe lane use and improper license plates.
  • Officers were investigating a report of an elderly man receiving a call from someone claiming to be from PSEG. The caller informed the victim that his payments were overdue and instructed him to purchase gift cards and send him the numbers back to avoid having his power cut off. The victim complied with the request. It later turned out to be a scam.
  • The fire brigade and police responded to a fire alarm in a residential building and found construction dust to be the cause.
  • A utility vehicle fled the scene after colliding with a vehicle on Washington Avenue and Stewart Avenue.

June 7th

  • Officials were investigating a report of someone breaking into a backyard shed on Clinton Road and stealing a dirt bike from the inside.
  • A driver on Stewart Avenue has been charged with operating and driving without the headlights on.
  • Officers responded to Cherry Valley Avenue, where a truck pulled onto the overpass. The driver was charged with disobeying bridge clearance signs.
  • Officers arrested a 25-year-old man on Clinton Road for driving with 10 driver’s license disqualifications and false number plates.
  • Officers responded to Seabury Road where a large tree branch had fallen onto the pavement. Officers responded to Wetherill Road where a tree branch fell, damaging a parked, unoccupied vehicle.
  • Surveillance video showed a man walking up a driveway on Cherry Valley Avenue and checking car door handles.
