Woman tried to use stolen ID to get credit card: Garden City Police – Low Calorie Diets Tips

GARDEN CITY, NY – The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ended June 14.

8th June

  • A Garden City business reported that three company checks were stolen, forged, and cashed for a loss of over $46,000.
  • An elderly victim received a fraudulent call from an individual stating that her daughter was arrested and needed $20,000 to post bail. The victim contacted her daughter and confirmed that she was not arrested.
  • A driver on Clinton Road and Stewart Avenue has been charged with speeding and wrong number plates.
  • A driver on Clinton Road and Poplar Street has been charged with driving with improper license plates and unregistered operations.
  • Officers responded to a fallen branch on South Avenue blocking the roadway.

June 9th

  • Officers arrested a 37-year-old woman on Vassar Street for DWI, traffic obstruction and unsafe lane use.
  • An officer responded to Cathedral Avenue for a fallen branch blocking the roadway.
  • Officers responded to Cherry Valley Avenue, where a truck pulled onto the overpass. The driver was charged with disobeying bridge clearance signs.
  • Police issued a ticket to a business to advertise on Cherry Valley Avenue.
  • A driver on Greenridge Avenue has been charged with illegal operation and running a stop sign on Clinch Avenue.
  • A driver on Clinton Avenue was charged with illegal driving, speeding and using a cell phone while driving.

June 10th

  • Officers arrested a 36-year-old woman for attempting to open a fraudulent credit card account at a local bank using a fake driver’s license. Upon her arrest, it was also discovered that she was in possession of numerous fraudulent licenses and credit cards. She was charged with eight counts of possession of forged documents, identity theft and criminal identity theft.
  • A vehicle was reported stolen from a driveway on Tremont Street. The vehicle was tracked to a location in Newark.
  • A driver on Clinton Road has been charged with illegal driving and speeding.
  • Two drivers have been charged with overtaking stopped school buses on Rockaway Avenue.
  • Officers have been assigned traffic and safety details for the Belmont Fair on 7th Street. During the event, officials reunited two lost children with their families.

June 11th

  • Firefighters, police and water authorities responded to a report of a water leak at a home in Garde City. Firefighters and water company workers made the home safe by shutting off the electricity and water supplies.
  • Officials were assigned traffic and safety details for a large demonstration and march on Old Country Road and Franklin Avenue.
  • A driver on Clinton Road has been charged with driving with a suspended license and tinted windows. Another driver on Clinton Road has been charged with illegal driving and speeding.

12th of June

  • While investigating a suspicious circumstance on Kingsbury Road, officers arrested a 34-year-old man on charges of severe DWI and driving with two disqualifications.
  • Firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at a 7th Street restaurant, which firefighters determined the cause was a ruptured sprinkler pipe. They responded after two employees said they were suffering from a headache and light-headedness, possibly from a smell of gas. They were treated by rescue workers. The Fire Marshal responded to the scene and the premise was closed until the building issues could be resolved.
  • Officials were investigating a report of a suspicious backpack near Stewart School. Upon examination, the backpack contained personal belongings and belonged to a student.
  • A driver on Stewart Avenue has been charged with illegal operation and speeding.

June 13th

  • A driver on Clinton Road was accused of driving with a suspended registration and using a cell phone while driving.
  • One resident said she received a scam phone call claiming her daughter had been arrested in an accident and needed money for bail. The resident hung up and called her daughter to make sure she was okay and not arrested.
  • Officials were responding to a sewage problem on Mulberry Avenue.
  • A driver on New Hyde Park Road has been charged with speeding and forging number plates.

14th June

  • A vehicle has been reported stolen from a driveway on Newmarket Road.
  • A 32-year-old driver was arrested at Clinton Road and Meadow Street for driving with a revoked driver’s license, seven driver’s license suspensions and fake license plates.
  • A 25-year-old driver was arrested on Clinton Road and Kingsbury Road for driving with a suspended license, eight suspensions and speeding.
  • A gray vehicle reportedly left the scene after colliding with another vehicle on Nassau Boulevard.
